Seniors Week

Where did June go?  It must have washed away with all the rain we have had!

June 6-10 2011 was Seniors' Week in Alberta.  Many celebrations took place during that week.  We had a wonderful turnout for the  Edmonton Westend Seniors Fair, met many new faces and visited with some famaliar ones.  Congratulations to our Tim Hortons gift card winners (Helen M and Barbara M).

Elder  Move had a busy week as well with a radio interview on CBC Monday followed by a CTV noon news segment.  Look for us in the Finest Values book, up for delivery if Canada Post ever gets back to work.  We will have an article printed in the next copy of the Alberta Caregivers Magazine...take a look, July 2011.

Medicine Cabinets Downsizing

So....let's all think about what we have in our medicine cabinet... I just found a bottle of eye drops for a cat of mine that died 8 years ago.  OK..maybe my new cat will get sick but how likely is it that she will come down with exactly the same ailment?  I have worked in the veterinary business for years and this has never happened plus the drug is long past its expiry date.

These are the kind of things that Elder Move can help you part with, leaving more room for things you actually need, in the medicine cabinet or cupboard.

Single socks......

Having just gone through my spare sock drawer, making as many matches as I could, I have few questions.
1.  If the single socks go back into the dryer will we ever see them again?
2.  How many unmatched socks does a family need?  My boys are grade 5 and 6...what is the likely hood that they will need a total of 23 single socks for an art project...really now.

Food for thought,
Shannon

Pillows.....how does this happen?

So, I have 2 queen beds, 1 double and a twin.  Why do I have 17 pillows?  I need 7 for the beds and in a tight squeeze 1 for each of the couches so 5 more,  for a grand total of of 12 pillows.  Pillows take up a lot of closet space!  Any suggestions??

My husband...

Ever since I came up with this Elder Move idea I have been driving my husband crazy!  We have been going through ALL the boxes in the basement.  There are boxes still taped shut from when we moved 8 years ago.  As we open the boxes we decided that if we haven't needed the stuff yet we DON'T need it.  It was fun to go through the old dusty boxes finding the odd treasure...a wooden cat sculpture we received as a wedding gift, some of my art work from elementary school and photos we stored away during the move.  We kept these items but that was it.  Really....how many unmatched wine glasses does a person need?

Have you found anything fun when sorting through old stored boxes?
